HPA Scale Inhibitor
The scale inhibitor eMAI™ HPA is a high-efficiency, environmentally friendly scale inhibitor containing both phosphonic acid and carboxyl groups. With outstanding chelation and lattice distortion effects, it effectively complexes calcium, magnesium, barium, and other ions in water, disrupting salt crystallization conditions and preventing the deposition of calcium carbonate and other scales on pipe walls and equipment surfaces. The product features good chemical stability, resistance to hydrolysis, and acid/alkali corrosion resistance; its corrosion and scale inhibition performance is 5–8 times that of traditional HEDP and EDTMP. Applications: Industrial circulating cooling water systems: Widely used as a cathodic corrosion and scale inhibitor in circulating water systems across steel, petrochemical, power, and pharmaceutical industries to ensure safe equipment operation. Oilfield reinjection water treatment: Designed specifically for oilfield reinjection water; its excellent chelating ability prevents scaling in transport pipelines and corrosion of downhole equipment, improving injection system efficiency. Mineral processing and flotation separation: Used as an environmentally friendly depressant in the flotation separation of sphalerite and galena, effectively suppressing electrostatic interactions between serpentine and chalcopyrite to improve mineral recovery. Low-hardness, corrosion-prone water treatment: Particularly suited to the low-hardness waters of southern China; by increasing zinc salt solubility, it forms an excellent corrosion and scale inhibiting system when compounded with zinc salts.
Overview and Applications
The series covers organophosphonic acids and salts that complex calcium, magnesium, iron, and other metal ions while suppressing scale-crystal growth. They serve circulating cooling water, boiler water, and oilfield injection systems and can be blended with polycarboxylates for added performance.
