ATMP Scale Inhibitor

The scale inhibitor eMAI™ ATMP is an organophosphonic acid anionic corrosion and scale inhibitor. Its molecular structure contains three phosphonic acid groups and can dissociate into six positive and negative ions in water, forming stable polydentate chelates with calcium and magnesium ions that remain loosely dispersed in water, effectively preventing the formation of carbonate and sulfate scales. It also provides chelation, threshold inhibition, and lattice distortion effects, with good synergistic performance with polyphosphates, polycarboxylic acids, and nitrites. Applications: Used as a scale and corrosion inhibitor for circulating cooling water and boiler water; particularly suitable as a no-pH-adjustment scale and corrosion inhibitor in alkaline circulating cooling water. For treatment of oilfield reinjection water with high barium ion content. For scale and corrosion treatment of medium- and low-pressure boilers. For central air-conditioning water systems: prevents scaling in cooling towers and heat exchangers. Also used as a metal cleaner, detergent additive, metal ion masking agent, cyanide-free electroplating additive, and precious metal extractant.

Overview and Applications

The series covers organophosphonic acids and salts that complex calcium, magnesium, iron, and other metal ions while suppressing scale-crystal growth. They serve circulating cooling water, boiler water, and oilfield injection systems and can be blended with polycarboxylates for added performance.
