BHMTPMPA Scale Inhibitor

The scale inhibitor eMAI™ BHMTPMPA is a high-efficiency organophosphonate multidentate chelating scale inhibitor. With multiple phosphonic acid groups in its molecular structure, it delivers excellent water solubility and thermal stability over a wide pH range and at temperatures up to 120°C. Its extremely high chelation stability for calcium ions means it resists precipitation even in high-hardness water, making it especially suitable for high-calcium water treatment. It significantly inhibits calcium carbonate scale and sulfate scales (including barium sulfate and strontium sulfate). Applications: Industrial circulating cooling water: As a core scale and corrosion inhibiting component for high cycles-of-concentration systems; often compounded with polycarboxylate dispersants for enhanced performance. Oilfield injection water treatment: Particularly suitable for high-salinity, high calcium/magnesium oilfield reinjection water systems, effectively preventing scaling in oil-bearing formations and pipelines. Boiler water and reverse osmosis systems: Used in low-pressure boiler feedwater and RO pretreatment to prevent scaling on heated surfaces; dosage must be strictly controlled to avoid organic carbon contamination. Other fields: Used as a chelating agent for textile dyeing and printing, a peroxide stabilizer, and a concrete additive.

Overview and Applications

The series covers organophosphonic acids and salts that complex calcium, magnesium, iron, and other metal ions while suppressing scale-crystal growth. They serve circulating cooling water, boiler water, and oilfield injection systems and can be blended with polycarboxylates for added performance.
