eMAI New Materials

Nonionic Surfactant AEO Series

The eMAI™ AEO Series nonionic surfactants are formed by ring-opening polymerization of fatty alcohols with ethylene oxide (EO). One end of the molecular structure is a hydrophilic polyoxyethylene ether group, and the other is a hydrophobic long-chain alkyl group—an amphiphilic structure that confers outstanding interfacial activity. The series offers excellent chemical stability, remaining stable in hot dilute alkalis, acids, and oxidants. In addition, it does not ionize in aqueous solution, giving it strong hard-water tolerance, little tendency to precipitate with calcium and magnesium ions, low skin irritation, and good biodegradability.

Overview and Applications

The portfolio covers fatty-alcohol ethoxylates, isotridecyl and isodecyl alcohol ethoxylates, alkylphenol ethoxylates, sorbitan esters, and polyoxyethylene sorbitan derivatives. Grades can be selected by HLB and solubility for industrial cleaning, textiles, metalworking, coatings, agrochemicals, oilfield, and personal-care formulations.
