KHI10 Kinetic Hydrate Inhibitor

The eMAI™ KHI10 kinetic hydrate inhibitor is formulated from modified polyvinyl water-soluble copolymers, polar co-solvents, and low-temperature stabilizers—a low-dosage kinetic hydrate inhibitor. Mechanism: Nucleation inhibition: When nanoscale hydrate nuclei form from the oil-gas-water three phases under low temperature and high pressure, the agent's molecular segments rapidly adsorb onto the nuclei surfaces, occupying hydrogen-bonding sites of water molecules, blocking lattice bonding between water and hydrocarbon molecules such as methane, and preventing sustained growth of micro-nuclei; Steric barrier: Polymer molecules form a steric-hindrance film that isolates fine hydrate particles dispersed in the liquid phase, preventing inter-particle collision and agglomeration; Pipe-wall anti-adhesion: The agent adsorbs onto the inner walls of carbon steel pipelines, reducing hydrate-wall adhesion; even if trace microcrystals form, they are carried along by the flowing medium rather than depositing and causing pipe restriction or blockage. Unlike thermodynamic inhibitors, KHI10 requires no major changes to system temperature and pressure conditions, and its dosage is only 1/10 that of alcohol-based agents. Product features: Strong shear stability: Withstands multi-stage turbulent shear at chokes, elbows, and subsea risers in oil and gas pipelines; after 120 minutes of high-shear circulation, polymer chains remain intact with inhibition performance decay below 8%—suitable for long-distance shuttle pipelines; Broad media adaptability: Tolerates formation water with total salinity up to 220,000 mg/L and sour oil/gas media with H₂S ≤5 vol% and CO₂ ≤20 vol%, without salting-out or agent precipitation failure; Full chemical compatibility: Can be injected simultaneously with crude oil flow improvers, oilfield demulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, and scale inhibitors—no flocculation, phase separation, or viscosity spikes after mixing, and no degradation of the original performance of each chemical; No interference with downstream processes: Does not stabilize oil-water emulsion layers in three-phase separators and does not affect crude electric desalting, wastewater flotation treatment, or light hydrocarbon recovery; degradation products contain no heavy metals or nitrogenous toxic substances, meeting offshore and onshore environmental discharge standards; Low-corrosion safety: Neutral to mildly acidic, non-corrosive to 20# carbon steel, 316L stainless steel, FRP, and duplex steel pipelines as well as pressure gauges, flow meters, and safety valves; static corrosion rate <0.02 mm/a, compliant with oil and gas equipment corrosion control specifications.

Overview and Applications

DC45 selectively removes carbon dioxide, DS scavenges hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, KHI10 delays hydrate nucleation, growth, and agglomeration, and FL30 reduces friction to improve crude throughput. The range supports natural-gas gathering, crude pipelines, and refinery front-end treatment.
