Alkyl Dimethyl Betaine BS Series

The eMAI™ BS Series alkyl dimethyl betaines are mild amphoteric surfactants synthesized by quaternization of alkyl tertiary amines with sodium chloroacetate; their molecular structure contains an alkyl hydrophobic chain and a carboxybetaine hydrophilic group. This amphiphilic structure gives them excellent water solubility, foaming, and wetting capabilities. The products offer outstanding chemical stability, remaining stable over a wide pH range, with strong hard-water tolerance, extremely low skin and eye irritation, and good biodegradability—widely used in personal care products and mild cleansers.

Overview and Applications

The range includes lauric-, oleic-, and erucic-amidopropyl betaines, C12–C18 alkyl dimethyl betaines, and fatty-amidopropyl hydroxysultaines for personal cleansing and conditioning, oil displacement and VES acidizing, textile antistatic treatment, and wetting, emulsifying, or thickening formulations.
