Polyamine Shale Inhibitor PI50
The polyamine inhibitor eMAI™ PI50 is composed of polyamine macromolecular compounds. Its structural units adsorb strongly onto shale surfaces to form a hydrophobic protective film, effectively sealing micro-fractures, inhibiting hydration swelling and dispersion of mud shales, while improving the lubricity and rheological properties of drilling fluids. The product features strong inhibition, high thermal stability, good compatibility, and environmental friendliness, making it suitable for drilling operations in complex formations such as shale gas and tight oil. Applications: Shale gas/oil drilling: Used in water-based drilling fluid systems for shale formations, effectively inhibiting shale hydration swelling, spalling, and collapse to improve wellbore stability. Complex mud shale formations: Suitable for highly water-sensitive formations and fault fracture zones prone to wellbore instability, replacing conventional KCl/polymer systems. Slim holes and horizontal wells: Inhibits cuttings dispersion, reduces drilling fluid solids content, lowers the risk of stuck pipe, and ensures downhole safety. Environmentally friendly drilling fluid systems: Can serve as an alternative to oil-based drilling fluids, meeting inhibition requirements while reducing environmental risk.
Overview and Applications
PI50 adsorbs and seals microfractures to suppress shale hydration and dispersion in water-based drilling fluids and water-sensitive formations. CL4 works with water-, oil-, and synthetic-based fluids to remove filter cake and oil films from the wellbore, casing, and tools while improving cement-bonding surfaces.
