CIVA Corrosion Inhibitor Series for Diverting Acid
The eMAI™ CIVA Series corrosion inhibitors for diverting acid are formulated from multiple composite quaternary ammonium salt components. The nitrogen-containing heterocycles in the molecular structure adsorb firmly onto metal surfaces, forming a dense, network-like multi-layer protective film that not only blocks contact between the acid and the metal surface but also reduces competitive adsorption of VES surfactants on steel surfaces. The products are mainly used in betaine-based and cationic VES diverting acid acidizing systems. In addition to strong corrosion inhibition, the products show good compatibility with VES diverting agents and iron-control agents, while featuring high temperature resistance, low treating concentrations, good compatibility with other additives, and safety with environmental friendliness.
Overview and Applications
COI inhibitors serve lactic, sulfamic, and acetic acids plus H₂S/CO₂ environments; CI grades cover hydrochloric- and mud-acid treatments from 90 to 160°C; CIVA grades protect 60–95°C VES diverting-acid systems, providing low-dosage, high-temperature corrosion control for well stimulation, industrial cleaning, and equipment descaling.
