Oil Spill Dispersant COE

The oil spill dispersant eMAI™ COE is composed mainly of composite nonionic surfactants and strong penetrating solvents. Its components significantly reduce oil-water interfacial tension and, through wetting, emulsification, and dispersion, break surface oil slicks into fine droplets dispersed into the water column—accelerating the natural spreading and biodegradation of the oil to rapidly clear marine oil spills, reduce environmental pollution, and protect marine ecology. The product maintains excellent emulsification and dispersion performance across a wide temperature range (-10°C to 50°C) and in waters of varying salinity. It is suitable for emergency response to sudden oil spill incidents in rivers, harbors, coastal waters, and ocean-going vessels, and is especially effective for spills of crude oil, fuel oil, and light oil products.

Overview and Applications

By lowering oil-water interfacial tension, COE wets, emulsifies, and disperses floating oil into fine droplets that accelerate natural dispersion and biodegradation. It retains dispersing performance from -10 to 50°C and across salinities for river, port, coastal, and vessel spill response.
