AC Ultra-Low-IFT Surfactant: Releasing Residual Oil Through Three Interfacial Mechanisms
Explain how AC combines interfacial-tension reduction, wettability modification, and emulsification to mobilize residual oil held by capillary forces.

Article Summary
Residual oil in mature reservoirs may remain as films on pore walls, isolated droplets in narrow throats, or capillary-trapped oil. The eMAI™ AC series combines anionic and nonionic surfactants to improve recovery through three mechanisms: lowering oil-water interfacial tension so droplets deform and migrate more readily; changing wettability so oil films detach from rock surfaces; and emulsifying and transporting oil in the aqueous phase.
AC can be used alone or with polymer and alkali in SP or ASP systems, and is suited to high-water-cut reservoirs, low-permeability imbibition, and emulsification-assisted viscosity reduction for heavy oil.
